SGMT provides community based primary maternal-child care including prenatal, labour and birth, and postpartum care for mother and baby for 6 weeks. Families are offered a choice of birthplace including home, Toronto Birth Centre and hospital birth at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. SGMT specializes in care for urban Indigenous families. I am currently on leave from clinical practice but maintain my midwifery and research affiliation here.

Lead the development and implementation of a new pilot project by the MOHLTC to open one of their first midwife-led Birth Centres in Ontario. This innovative initiative uses an Indigenous framework and governance model to improve access and delivery of culturally safe care to Aboriginal families and other marginalized populations in the City of Toronto. All midwives, clients and their families are welcome. The primary goal of the Toronto Birth Centre is to set a new benchmark for universally accessible maternal-child health care in Canada.
