About Sara Carissimo

Sara has taught full-time for more than ten years. She is trauma-informed and she is a TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga) facilitator. She has a background in data science, with experience in social research, especially in the fields of sociology of labor and economic sociology. She has a specialization in sociology of health and non-conventional medicines.Before the pandemic she taught ashtanga vinyasa yoga, vinyasa flow, aerial yoga, asana technique, and Alexander technique in Milan. She worked privately and for yoga studios, fitness studios, and corporate clients. In 2020 she started teaching online, live and by registered classes. She moved in New York City at the end of 2021.As yoga teacher, she has been trained by Gérald Disse and Linda Munro (Ashtanga Yoga Paris) and by Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy (Downward Dog Yoga Centre, Toronto). Among her yoga trainings, there are also three Yoga Alliance registered trainings (a 200hrs TT and two 300hrs TT) and a special training dedicated to yoga anatomy. In Italy her trainings are also recognized by CSEN and ASC (CONI). She is registered as E-RYT500 with Yoga Alliance US.Sara teaches hatha yoga with a gradual and trauma-informed approach. She pays close attention to long-term effects and sustainability of dynamic practices. She studied pranayama. She took an interest in Iyengar method and in Dona Holleman's Centered Yoga.She is a certified (Étapp, Apta, Stat) 1600hrs Alexander Technique teacher and in 2020 she completed a training for working online and hands-off with students and groups.Languages: Italian (native), English, and French.
