My love for a starter mindset turned out too big. My former boss welcomed me back to develop activation campaigns and customer loyalty programs for (inter)national accounts such as 20th Century Studios, Cola-Cola, DPG Media, Telenet, VRT, Omega Pharma and Texaco. My first project involved the personal clearance of Will Smith. Someone slap me in the face: what a job. After 3 years I gained new strategic responsibilities as Marketing Manager in the MAD Management Team. In the meantime I launched a very own promo collection à la Koziol. That meant developing collection concepts, designing new products, catalogs and a website, writing press releases and ads and coordinating collection launches at international fairs. Those were literally crazy times.

Moving from a starter to an established institution. For the Belgian niche expert in income insurance (a Partena company) I was responsible for all public relations, developed a communication strategy and new website and coordinated activities for national agencies.

What do you do when you’re mad about marketing and you get the chance to develop a marketing department from scratch for an ambitious starter? You say yes. So I developed a marketing strategy, set out the lines for strategic goals and coordinated the sales team.

Hands-on experience on my first job? Check. I was the admin go-to for starters in the business center. For the sports and indoor ski center I developed corporate and school events. In addition I managed all activities for our promoteam, including trainings and coordination during events (for Coca-Cola, Voka, …) After 1 year I got the chance to replace the office manager and hire my very own assistent, Lieve.

Movie directors Jan Verheyen and Marc Punt welcomed me into their crew. Due to circumstances I was the only one manning the French PR department at that time. Got really thrown to the lions (and not the MGM-one), but what an experience. I wrote press releases, organised press visions, a couple of movie premieres and even got to review real movie scripts for Jan. At that time it was all about Hugh Grant's Four Weddings and a Funeral. The most 'utter' scenario for a first work experience.
