Camp is where second chances are earned, lessons are learned, and growth is inevitable.At Camp Mendocino, a program of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, life in the city feels distant—like a chapter in a book you forgot you were reading. The characters and circumstances of that book are real, but the story in front of you, the excitement and newness of the forest playground, has captured your attention. Camp becomes a safe space where you can let your guard down and practice being someone new. It’s about creating a version of your best self that might not be possible at home. In just 10 days at Camp, campers have the opportunity to make different decisions and see things from a different perspective.By being at Camp, the fundamental ideas of what is possible have changed – and as the director, I get to hold the space.
