As a Senior Strategy Manager, I solely supported the senior leadership team (SLT) of TELUS Health’s Care Centres (THCC) division. THCCs are a network of facilities across Canada providing a comprehensive range of health services, including preventive healthcare, executive health, and family medicine, leveraging advanced technology to deliver personalized and efficient patient care. I managed strategy development, priority setting, strategic planning, and governance for the 14 centres across Canada, working to enhance strategy, facilitate business decisions, and drive execution. I led the strategic planning activities to develop a data-informed strategic vision and determine execution requirements and liaised and collaborated across business units to ensure Care Centres maintained alignment with the broader TELUS Health strategy.

The Workers' Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) is a government agency that provides insurance and compensation for workers injured on the job, while promoting workplace health and safety. As a Senior Business Advisor, I was responsible for the development, execution, and performance management of the Corporate Strategic Plan. It involved working closely with the CEO and BoD as well as the senior leadership team to provide strategic advice.

As a Senior Consultant in Public Sector & Health Transformation (Strategy & Operations), I helped organizations across the continuum of care create tackle complex business and organizational issues. Our team assisted various organizations in understanding the global, and local, emerging health trends and create innovative strategies with those trends in mind. This helped ensure that they were able to provide quality care, timely access, and meet the evolving needs of their patients. On the operations side, we worked with organizations to evaluate and streamline programs and services to increase efficiencies. In the current Canadian/Ontarian healthcare landscape helping organizations work efficiently and optimally prioritize funding helps improve quality of care for Ontarians. Major Project: Future-State Target Operating Model Working with a multi-disciplinary team, I helped to assess the Claims Management processes of a provincial worker's compensation board to identify key areas of improvement. We did extensive stakeholder engagements to get a true understanding of the current state of the organization. In addition, we worked with SMEs in both the US and Australia across health benefits, worker’s compensation and insurance to understand leading trends and best practices in the industry. Our final deliverable included a comprehensive Target Operating Model, which included a multi-layer perspective (e.g., technology, customers, capabilities) and a detailed road map for implementation.

(Mat Leave Contract) Led the Tobacco Reduction Strategy in the northern region by collaborating with multi-disciplinary practitioners on the prevention and cessation of tobacco use and the protection of the public from smoke exposure. In addition, I provided comprehensive consultation on the strategy, planning, and implementation of a “smoke-free” mountain policy at Cypress Ski Resort (2016) which protects ~500k visitors from second-hand smoke exposure each year and acted as an internal consultant for various VCH stakeholders on implementing VCH’s Smoke-Free Premises Policy; chaired the Smoke Free Campus Steering Committee at Lion’s Gate Hospital.

During an 11-month internship at St. Michael's Hospital, I worked closely with the Patient Safety Manager on two projects being executed by the Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Department. For the first project, we were tasked with bringing the hospital into compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005). I proactively conducted a gap analysis to assess the hospital’s existing level of compliance. Using the results of that analysis, I helped revise SMH’s Accessibility Policy and create its 5-year strategic plan for the improvement of its accessibility services. Throughout the process I became adept at managing stakeholders and guiding them through the change process. Secondly, I developed a project plan to streamline the Interpreter Request System. By making the request process digital and streamline, utilization rose ~20% over 6-months allowing those whose first language is not English better health care.
