Fellow of the CARBIO network (Marie Curie foundation) - Carbon Nanotubes for Biomedical Applications. Performed scientific research, time and goals management, and biannual reports to the network.• Growth of iron filled multiwalled carbon nanotubes (Fe-MWCNT) using in situ techniques, such as chemical vapour deposition (CVD).• Characterisation of Fe-MWCNT by microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, e.g. HR-TEM, SEM, FTIR, UV/Vis absorption and Raman spectroscopy.• The work was inserted in a multidisciplinary training network, involving eight groups from all over Europe, coordinated by Dr. Rudiger Klingeler.

• Tested the ability of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) as a tool to distinguish between different white fibres, for forensic science purposes.• Collection of different samples of white fibres from diverse Portuguese producers. Data acquisition and analysis by FTIR. • This work was performed in collaboration with Dr. Fatima Machado, from the Laboratory of Scientific Police (LPC in Portuguese), in Lisbon.
