Managed academic advising/registration activities; advised graphic design students, assisted faculty and administrative staff. EDMC sold its remaining Art Institute campuses including The Art Institute of Houston in October 2017, and all existing schools closed under separate ownership in September 2023. EDMC filed for bankruptcy in 2018. The Art Institute of Houston permanently closed on September 30, 2023.

Coordinator/Advisor/Assistant Director in the Division of Continuing and Adult Education (DCAE). Worked with adult students completing bachelor's degrees, and managed the academic advising function of the division that include myself and three academic advisors. Also worked closely with the Registrar's Office (served as a liaison), faculty, and administration. DCAE was dismantled in 2008.

Primarily worked with adult students who were seeking alternative teacher certification (K-12) in Florida who had already earned a bachelor's degree but not in an area of education, and who were seeking to teach in a public K-12 school setting. Also worked with graduate students including doctoral students entering the dissertation phase of their program.

January 1995 - August 1997: Worked as academic advisor with adult students at an off campus site in Kendall (Miami), FL; September 1997 - November 1998: Associate Director of a new off-campus site in Winter Park (Orlando), FL--managed office, advised adult students (admissions/advising/registration), worked with faculty, administrators, and staff.

Managed an off-campus Student Support Center located in Orlando, FL and a smaller center in Tampa, FL, (and occasionally proctored tests in Ocala, FL), for adult students earning bachelor's degrees in Elementary and Secondary Education at NSU's sites in Orlando and Tampa. Supervised part-time tutors (graduate students in English and math) who tutored students to prepare them for the teacher certification test (CLAST) required to pass in order to teach in public K-12 schools in Florida at that time. This was a federally grant-funded program and the funding ended in September 1994.

Recipient of a one-year doctoral administrative fellowship for the 1992-93 academic year at the main campus in Fort Lauderdale, FL, in their Programs for Higher Education (PHE). Completed all classes and research projects (practicums) with the exception of the dissertation towards an Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) in Education (specializing in Adult Education).

Graduate administrative assistantship while working on an Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Higher Education/Student Personnel Services. Created/provided orientation services/workshops for new graduate students campus-wide, and conducted an orientation survey with the students which was part of my master's degree research project. I received M.S. degree in August 1991.Also, from August 1983 to June 1985 while I was finishing my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art & Design at Iowa State University, I worked at Iowa State as an Editorial Secretary for a professional journal, "The Journal of Extension," which was housed in the College of Education during those two years before the editorship of the Journal was transferred to another state university in July 1985. I designed one of the Journal covers. I received my B.A. degree in May 1985.

Between receiving my B.A. degree from Iowa State in 1985 and when I went back to Iowa State University in January 1990 to earn my M.S. degree from Iowa State, I worked in two positions:Assistant Editor, Gone Fishin' Magazine (April 1986 to June 1987) published by Great Plains Anglers Association. The company closed down when the owner died suddenly (June 1987).Administrative Assistant, West Des Moines Community School District--WDMCSD (August 1987 to January 1990): I served as the Administrative Assistant for two K-12 Curriculum Directors. I left this position when I returned to Iowa State University and moved to Ames, IA, to work on my master's degree in January 1990.
