I was responsible for presenting storytime programs that promote literacy skills, assisting patrons on the reference desk, collection development and maintenance, running the Teen Library Council, and collaborating with other staff for special projects and programming. I trained, supervised, and maintained a staff of 20-30 teen volunteers at any given time. I pioneered an exciting new relationship with our local chapter of Autism Speaks.

I review Easy, Juvenile Fiction, and Young Adult Fiction titles for School Library Journal on a monthly basis.

Virtual Meetings

I have been on the FLA Marketing Committee since 2012. I started out by helping compile Library Snapshot Day statistics. When needed, I stepped up "early" for a term as vice-chair. I am currently my committee's liaison to the Scholarship Committee, and am soliciting & collecting testimonials to promote and increase FLA committee volunteerism.

As a Year 11 participant of SSLLI, I began intentionally developing myself as a leader. I was formally mentored, attended monthly workshops, and completed a leadership project at my library. I have stepped up to the role of “Faculty Liaison” to our local public school system, and pioneering outreach at school faculty meetings.

I helped lead a special grant-funded Nook book club, took inventory of the collection, supervised student assistants, ran the circulation desk, and assisted the media specialist in planning and executing special events. During the 2013-2014 school year I returned to lead a second year of Nook Book Club on my own for my MAT thesis project.
