Led a student team to collect local knowledge and views from residents, businesses and organizations in the broader Bangor region as part of an ongoing Climate Action Project through BSC group. Organized, conducted and analyzed 15 stakeholder interviews to add to the broader climate vulnerability assessment.

I led expansion for One Acre Fund into new parts of Kenya, focusing on a priority area surrounding Mt. Kenya in Central and Eastern Kenya. At the time of my departure we had been able to progress to the 4th season in the area and grow to working with ~23,000 farmers.My work included high-level program design, field team management and motivation, farmer-facing strategy and new crop and product innovation for the region. I successfully transitioned the region into the core country operations and handed over management to a promoted Senior field staff member.

I led One Acre Fund Uganda's strategy for farmer loan repayment for ~10,000 smallholder clients in Eastern Uganda. Coordinated execution, monitoring, real-time adaptation and communication of progress to leadership.Managed the Uganda program's customer engagement and client protection processes to improve quality of service to our farmers. Supported performance management and capacity building for our ~200 Field Staff. Provided analysis and thought leadership to support a transition to a stronger Uganda program - through organizational restructuring and evaluation of priorities and goals.

West and Central Africa Division• Led an analysis of the Division’s work in the area of agricultural water management and small-scale irrigation across the 24 countries in the region. Conducted interviews with staff, visited five ongoing projects and led a workshop in Burkina Faso with field staff from eight IFAD projects. Synthesized review results in a report, highlighting opportunities for changes in project design, implementation and monitoring, and for more effective collaboration within the organization and with others in the sector. Presented findings to senior staff and initiated plans for operationalizing suggested changes.• Assisted divisional staff, in particular the Regional Director and Economist, with research and analytical needs. Provided country specific overviews and analysis for official visits and policy negotiations and contributed to regional and country plans and reviews.

Part of a small team working on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded project 'Agriculture for Impact' at Imperial College. Lead researcher and project manager for the second edition of the book 'The Doubly Green Revolution.' Created, managed and wrote for the team’s project website enabling the team to more effectively pursue advocacy goals.

Project manager, lead researcher, contributing author and editor for Professor Sir Gordon Conway and Professor Jeff Waage’s 400-page book 'Science and Innovation for Development', funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Lived and worked independently in a small village in Mali for 2.5 years. • Created a 16 member village Health and Sanitation Committee. Employed participatory and creative PHAST-based methods to help the group understand disease transmission and prevention and collaborated with them to develop and implement a plan to improve village health and hygiene.• Designed a comprehensive village sanitation project with the committee to block the spread of diarrheal and malarial disease. Secured funding (USAID grant with a 30% community contribution) and managed work that included construction of 108 soak pits to eliminate standing waste-water, improving pump and well areas, and leading educational activities aimed at changing hygiene behaviors. Managed all budgeting, monitoring and reporting.• Raised over $15,000 in funding (private donors with a 25% community contribution) to build and furnish three new classrooms and an office for the village primary school. Supervised all aspects of the construction including budgeting, scheduling, purchasing, hiring, management of work teams, monitoring and reporting.• Instituted a child nutrition program for mothers, which includes growth monitoring, ameliorated porridge preparation and family planning.• Produced and presented a weekly radio show in the nearest city which was broadcast to over 200,000.
