About the Organization:New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to disrupting the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students by accelerating educator effectiveness.The Jewish New Teacher Project (JNTP) is a division of New Teacher Center focused on Jewish day schools. JNTP brings NTC’s approach to education and mentoring methodology to teachers of all subjects and grades in Jewish day schools.Key Accomplishments:Provided regular, one-on-one support, feedback and professional development to Instructional Mentors as part of a federally funded Investing in Innovation (i3) grant. Included frequent field visit observations using structured protocols in order to co-formatively assess strengths and challenges which supported the development of rigorous mentoring practices. Students of new teachers who received mentoring within this model in grades 4-8 gained up to 6 additional months in learning in math. New teachers who received two years of support in NTC’s induction model demonstrated statistically significant gains in their ability to engage students in learning and their use of assessments in instruction.Supported the implementation and development of a joint mentorship program between NTC and the ExpandED Schools Pathways Fellowship which provides a 10-month afterschool practicum experience as a gateway to teaching for educators of color. The program matched fellows with an expert practicing educator who was an alum of New Teacher Center mentoring.
