Sara Olson graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management and has worked in both sales and front desk operations in full-service and extended-stay hotels. As a professional hotel appraiser and consultant, Sara uses this experience and training to explore every level of a hotel’s operations from the ground up. She asks questions and investigates avenues that can reveal important clues to how a hotel or market performs—crucial components in a proper hotel valuation or feasibility study. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Sara works chiefly in hotel markets across the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions. She has written on the dynamics of the Des Moines, Iowa hotel market and has attended several hotel conferences in Denver, her current home base of operations. Deeply invested in education, Sara is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. As part of the Cherrington Global Scholars program, she studied abroad at the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France. She also served as Director of Operations for the student-run DU Vin Festival, helping to raise money for scholarships. She likes to spend time away from work in the Colorado outdoors, golfing when the weather is warm and taking to the slopes at wintertime.
