Corporate Relations & Volunteer Manager
CurrentI work with the Development team to steward and cultivate unique partnerships between Denver Scholarship Foundation and local, national, and global companies. I support the organization in achieving our mission of making college possible for Denver Public Schools' students by developing and coordinating opportunities for students and corporate partners to engage in professional and career development programming. In addition to other events and engagements, I manage a series of career exposure events throughout the academic year. This includes career panels, speed-mentoring, and Scholar visits to corporate offices for students to explore and grow their network, while also providing opportunities for employees of corporate partners to give back to their community. My role has expanded to include the volunteer management for DSF's FAFSA/CASFA workshops, an essential wide-reaching part of our organization's support to DPS students and families.
Launch Programs Graduate Intern
For the 2021-2022 academic year I interned with Children Hospital Colorado's Launch Program, Medical Career Collaborative (MC2). My overall role was to support the programmatic and administrative operations necessary for the program to run efficiently.I supported weekly student seminar meetings at both the North (Broomfield) campus and Anschutz (Aurora) campus. During these meetings I led students in internship debrief sessions and discussions around their learning experiences. I prepared and facilitated professional development and career exploration activities, including the delivery of Financial Aid presentations to MC2 high school seniors. In preparation for the application season, I conducted recruitment outreach to surrounding school districts, and supported the 2022-2023 application process in reviewing 280 applications, selecting 82 students for interviews, interviewing students, and making final selections of 60 students for upcoming year. Once application season came to a close, I provided onboarding support as new cohorts of students began internships, and support for other events throughout the year.Throughout the year I supported data collection and organization, as well as evaluation of the program and various administrative projects, including research of career and academic resources to influence programmatic development and progress.
College Access Graduate Intern - West High School
For the 2020-2021 academic year, I interned with Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) at West Early College and West Leadership Academy. I worked directly with the current Future Center Advisor at these schools to learn about and gain skills in providing college counseling to high school seniors. Each week I attended and led one-on-one student meetings to prepare post-high school plans, as well as assisted students with FAFSA completion and college applications. I had a caseload of 30 students that I regularly outreached to, to answer any questions, set up meetings, and provide support with college preparation, FAFSA, scholarships, etc. I also attended regular West staff meetings and DSF staff meetings and trainings. Additionally, I oversaw data management and administrative support projects. The focus for our work was to encourage students to further their education (certificate programs, community colleges, universities, etc.) and to do so affordably.
Guest Service Representative
My main responsibility was to check guests in and out of their hotel rooms, while also working to accommodate any guest requests. When working with guests I would listen to and manage complaints, offering various ways to Make It Right. This role required me to be competent in interpersonal and administrative skills. I also had to communicate well with other departments to ensure that all operations were running smoothly.I was laid off due to the Covid pandemic.
Academic Mentor - Student Athlete Support Services
I worked with a caseload of D1 student-athletes that needed academic and skills mentoring, majority of whom were freshmen. Those that I met with for academic mentoring went through planned assignments with me to set goals and work on skill development. We often focused on planning and time management to encourage self-advocacy as they progress through their time at Colorado State. For other students, I proctored planning time which was used to plan and manage their schedules. I would also oversee work time which allowed the student-athletes time to get assignments done by themselves with the ability to use the Student Athlete Support Services (SASS) staff as resources.
Business Support Associate - Community Design
While at McWhinney, I worked with a team that took on all Community Design projects and tasks for Centerra. On a regular basis I would complete plot plan reviews for builders, conduct architectural and landscape compliance inspections after the completion of residential and commercial projects, and draft Design Review Committee (DRC) response letters. I coordinated schedules, meetings, reviews, and correspondence for our DRC as well as tracked and maintained organization of the influx of ongoing project submittals. In addition to my regular tasks, I also managed various projects related to the maintenance and growth of the master planned community, this included a complete signage update throughout the Lakes at Centerra neighborhood.
