As a youth consultant using my lived experience in out-of-home care & the child protection system, I have assisted in working on a number of projects for children and young people in statutory care and protection, children and youth involved in the criminal justice system those in foster care involved with the criminal justice system, making it 21 campaign to change legislation to make it fair for those in out of home care to more opportunities in life and a number of other projects.

My role as a case manager includes: - Working in a trauma informed approach with Indigenous children and families in the out of home care - provide updates to government bodies - undertake case plan goals- provide home visits - supports families / careers to access services - provide referrals and work in collaboration with other stakeholders - work within deadlines and adapt to working with complex cases - provide court documents - supervise and arrange family time for children and young people in the out of home care system

As a volunteer, I assist the team by undertaking general administrative duties including but not limited to documenting case notes, participating in team meetings to bring some valuable knowledge and support, processing internal and external agency referrals.

As a committee member, I attend and participate in a questions and answers panel sharing my knowledge and expertise in relation to the current Child Protection legislation and policies and their potential for change through project planning and collaboration with significant Government Agencies such as ‘Their Futures Matter’ to implement effective interventions and preventative actions. The panel consists of Executive Director and Behavioural Clinicians as well as Michael Coutts-Trotter, an Australian public servant who is the current Secretary of the New South Wales Department of Justice and Mary Joe Founding CEO of Cara House and Cara Care.Through my responses to their questions, I would share my knowledge and insight into positive ways in which changes made to the social policy and Government legislation can have a positive impact on the child protection sector and provision of service delivery. I strongly advocated for changes to 18 year care orders, and was the winner for the make it 21 campaign to help young people have support of non government agencies and the department of communities and justice until they are 21, I advocated strongly against stigma for young people had done podcasting to break the stigma which has reach over 3 million people world wide, I have also strongly advocated for other systematic changes. I have also provided expert training with my lived experience, and had the pleasure of attending training events where over 2 thousand workers ranging from case work support workers, case workers, senior case workers, manager case workers, client service officers, district directors, executive directors and various other professionals with the department attended the training provided insight to working with men who use violence, removals the impacts on the children and parents, working with domestic violence, working with kids who have been sexually abused, and various other critical areas impacting children and young people.

Youth advocacy for relevant legislation changes, and making it safer for children & young people in care. Worked on a number of projects related to working with families, preventing removals how decreasing risks within families, how to work in a trauma-informed approach, coaching and consulting with managers/front line workers within the child welfare sector.

Providing telehealth counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health support to those experiencing crisis and experiencing mental health concerns. I worked with men, women, and adolescents who had experienced complex trauma/trauma from being assaulted, relationship breakdowns, grief and loss of losing a friend/family member/work friend from suicide, friendship breakdowns, school difficulties, realizing of prison adjustme&nt issues to society, marriage breakdowns & divorce, losing custody of their children, escaping domestic& family violence, victims of sexual assault, school difficulties, work-related stress, and other stressors. I provided therapeutically non-judgemental working holistically with people and supporting them through phone and online chat counseling using a range of DBT, and CBT and helping guide people to long-term services helping them to decrease situations, positive coping strategies, phoning the police when to high-risk concerns of harm for hospital admission, helping them to source psychiatrist-psychologist and accredited mental health social workers for long term treatment.

Working as a support coordinator to assist participants to achieve positive outcomes, and work with their support networks. As a support coordinator, I strive to advocate for my clients to be heard, be provided support that they deserve, and overcome any issues they may be facing. As a support coordinator, I provide the following supports - Case management/support coordination to people receiving NDIS funding packages, provide referrals to relevant stakeholders, engage with stakeholders to work with clients and provide their support within their packages, attend regular conferences and meetings for participants. - Provide relevant supporting letters for housing services and assisting clients who are at risk of homelessness and/or those in contact with various government departments or on legal orders.- Meet with my clients on a regular basis- Provide crisis support coordination when required.- Undertake budget reviews.- Advocating for plans to be tailored to client needs, assisting with recommendations, and providing reviews when and where necessary. - Work within a trauma informed care approach.

As the Senior Mental Health & Disability Support Worker, I supported clients diagnosed with schizophrenia, learning difficulties, challenging behaviours and dual diagnosis through the process of identifying and planning specific individualised goals, and assisted them in completing everyday life-skills related tasks.Achieved an outstanding outcome and was commended by management for my success in identifying a misdiagnosis of a client residing within a mental health facility who had not left his room in the 20 years of his stay. Within 6-8 weeks of working with this particular client, he was medicated and successfully undertook speech therapy and horse therapy, he gave his free time working with the horses, learned how to budget his money and reconnected with a brother who he had not seen for many long years. Furthermore, in 2019 for a 3-week duration, I was appointed acting House Manager and was commended for my ability to transition smoothly into this role undertaking the key-responsibilities required to ensure all staff were supported, compliant and managed adequately. In this role, I am responsible for but not limited to the following.• Report to the Co-ordinator on a monthly basis. • Assist the Service Delivery Manager in conducting internal case file audits and developing individualised case plans.• Provide Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CBT, RBT, DBT counselling to clients specifically with anger, emotional and crisis related issues.• Deliver outreach counselling and support to clients based at Ryde mental health facility, Concord Mental Health Facility and within their homes. • Complete individualised care case plans and referrals to external organisations for further specialised supports.• Conduct supervision, mentoring and training of new supported accommodation employees and within the Mental Health Community Access team.• Influence and encourage clients to participate and engage socially within their community.
