Selected for competitive internship program in U.S. Senator Michael Bennet's Denver office for spring 2021, then asked to take a lead intern position for summer 2021. Responsibilities included:>Managing voicemails and live calls. I collected front end information and called back to clarify what assistance was needed in a particular case. I logged constituents’ opinions and sorted case work to help constituents navigate government agencies, and directly assisted constituents with case work as I grew more comfortable in the role. This task required a thorough understanding of the Senator’s opinions and ability to reiterate them, as well as a strong skill set to diplomatically handle conflicts and actively listen to the concerns and needs of constituents.>Note taking and special projects. I recorded minutes and detailed notes at the weekly constituent advocates’ staff meetings, summarizing key points, for official records. I assisted staff members with information gathering, creating FAQ documents, drafting official office letters, and entering data. >Leadership duties. Based on my initiative and positive attitude, I was offered a lead intern position, which I accepted. I onboarded and trained new interns, oversaw their daily tasks, and served as their first line of support when they encountered challenges or had questions.

During the 14-week entrepreneurial program I sold educational tools for k-12 students. I gained skills in phone and social media networking, as well as sales, during the month-long online portion. For the in-person phase, I was sent to Kentucky and learned how to ingrain myself in a local area and sell door to door. While I worked very long hours and did not earn as much profit as I’d hoped, this experience tested and strengthened my self-discipline and ability to work independently as well as my financial, organizational, task management, and communications skills.

I assisted in the oversight, allocation, and management of $24 million in student fees through the budgetary process and high-profile audit. These fees funded various cost centers such as the Student Recreational Center, the Center for Student Engagement, the University Memorial Center, as well as Student Governments, student clubs, and other student-oriented initiatives.

In the Spring of 2018 I was elected by my peers in the College of Arts and Science Student Government to serve as their Senator representing the college in the CU Boulder student government's Legislative Council. In this role, I attended the weekly Legislative Council in CU Student Government proper, and served as the student representative at the monthly Arts and Sciences faculty council meeting, as well as in other activities.My primary accomplishments in this role centered around communication and connection by coordinating cross-college activities and legislation. I also helped the Arts and Science Student Government stay connected to not only our own college’s faculty and initiatives, but also initiated ways for the CU Student Government to be informed about the missions and activities of the other colleges’ student governments around campus.

I worked with student government staff as a shadow to the event coordinating chair, social media chair, and election commissioner (I held the title of assistant election commissioner for a short live period, before becoming a senator in legislative council). All of these roles helped me expand my skills in the respective areas. I also helped coordinate events with the other freshman council members. One events included a Staff Appreciation week (Nov. 27 – Dec. 1 2017), where we arranged for students to write messages to staff about why they appreciated their services, and distributed Thank-You gift bags to staff members.

Fundraising on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union as a Canvasser, I was able to raise about $8,500 dollars over the course of the summer. I held a $220.00 daily average, and I was regularly a top canvasser for the campaign in the office. I was also nationally ranked as a top canvasser with Grassroots twice during my time with the company. Additionally, this job helped me gain excellent experience in communication, sales, and helped me better grasp the political action and workings going on across the United States.
