I do love a project: In 2025 I will be on sabbatical in Costa Rica to learn about sustainability from the experts!In 2024 the focus has been exploring the intersection between creativity, climate and health. In 2023 I was working on the NHSE funded 'Fitter Village Healthy Planet' project which explicitly linked the wellbeing of individuals with that of their environment. We asked the people registered at Herstmonceux Integrative Health Centre to help themselves and their local ( and global) environment by walking more. We measured the carbon footprint of our health centre and found out that if about half our registered population walked one extra mile a day ( instead of driving it) then this would balance out all the carbon we spend per year on their health centre and medications. The side effect would be that they would get fitter. Could they even put me out of a job ??! I spent 2022 doing an HEE/KSS fellowship on leadership, with a project on digital inclusion. In Spring 2021 I co-produced the 'Grow Your Own Health' project with Julia Behrens, medical herbalist. See us chatting and laughing @Growyourownhealth on instagram. GYOH was generously supported by East Sussex CC, West Sussex CC, the Local Medical Committee and Futurehealth Brighton. 2019 was the date of my first publication about the health benefits of singing, in the International journal of health promotion, and this was a product of doing a Masters in Global Health at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
