As a member of the ASWC Sustainability Committee, I strategized and implemented initiatives designed to increase institutional sustainability and facilitate student involvement. I created a set of green event guidelines, developed a purchasing guide and incoming student orientation materials, and initiated collaborations between clubs and campus groups. Additionally, I revitalized the committee's website, produced engaging web content, and increased social media outreach.

I shared my passion for science and the environment as I presented talks ranging from 30 to 90 minutes about the park’s spectacular geology. For my presentations, I read scientific literature, which I then translated into language and concepts accessible to visitors of all ages and nationalities. I made my presentations engaging by building emotional connections through story-telling, personal examples, and the creative use of props and visuals. Additionally, working in conjunction with the Science and Resource Management division I researched and compiled a database of the park’s hydrologic resources and water rights, which included organizing a data collection trip into a remote part of the park.

I designed an independent study project in conjunction with the Grand Canyon Trust to aid their advocacy/ After using ArcGIS to compile a geospatial database of springs located with in Bears Ears National Monument, I obtained funding to spend three days locating and surveying 21 spring sites in remote parts of the monument.

I coordinated an environmental education initiative which brought college students to 7th grade classrooms to teach about climate change. In this highly self-directed position, I reached out to local teachers, recruited and trained over 20 volunteers, and coordinated the logistics of 18 separate classroom visits, which reached over 200 students.

I ensured that cabin groups of 4th through 9th graders had fun, positive experiences at Camp Sealth, on Vashon Island. I wove environmental education into my campers’ schedules by leading edible plant hikes, star tours, and overnight camping trips (which were a first for many of my campers). I developed active listening and conflict mediation skills that were augmented by my calm, empathetic, and responsive leadership style. My success in working with children of diverse abilities led me to be selected to be a personal counselor for a child with autism for a week. Additionally, as part of the Wrangler Unit, I helped instruct my campers in Western-style horseback riding.
