I am an approachable person and enjoy person centred positions. I am a natural problem solver and seek to find solutions by using all means possible. I have worked in many high pressure situations and am able to remain calm and logical during those periods. In my current role I have worked with families and children to support them at times of anxiety, developing a good rapport. This has not been straightforward and has required some creative thinking. This has developed a desire to work in a new role with a strong pastoral element.I worked previously as a Lawyer in Adult Social Care. The service users were adults without capacity and incredibly vulnerable. We were frequently faced with requests to advise on situations that had not been faced previously. This required quick thinking and discussions with many personnel. The solutions would involve gathering information from many sources. The situations were of an emergency nature, involving the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. Prior to this I worked as Clerk to the Governors Body for two schools. I joined as Clerk to Waddington Redwood Primary shortly after they had received a ‘Requires Improvement’ grading from Ofsted. My first duty was to recruit new Governors with the skills and strengths to carry out robust monitoring and assessment. I met with candidates re the role of Governor, assessed suitability for the role and provided information.I undertook Governor training sessions and mentored new Governors. When I joined the Governing Body there were no processes in place to record monitoring activities. I created a cycle of monitoring to streamline processes and ensure the Governor's time was used effectively without being onerous.As a Criminal Defence Lawyer I attended police stations, prisons and courts to advise. I would be the first person to advise and clients were often anxious. I would take great care to listen to the information that was given by the client and explain the legal basis.To gain full disclosure, I would liaise with the arresting officer and ask comprehensive questions . Following interview, I would enter into negotiation to reach the best outcome for the client and explain the next steps to the client and their families. If a client was remanded, I would visit them in the Prison and take statements. I worked on some very serious offences but always remained professional. I liaised with a wide range of personnel, developed a good working relationship with all personnel and was well respected. I enjoyed the fast pace, varied work, with no two days ever the same.
