Key areas of activity include: chairing editorial meetings (six a year); discussing content; planning schedules; commissioning text; editing copy; overseeing production, liaising with printers and writers. I was recruited specifically to oversee a radical re-brand, the first issue of which was published in August 2005. Two magazines are now combined in one and the intention is to increase the number of subscribers to 10,000. December 2011 saw another rebrand and I took an integral role in creating the design brief. We are now two issues in and this redesign is causing much less controversy than the last.I encountered a steep learning curve when I took over this publication. However, I have decreased the readership age and have broadened the content – unusually, not being an organist has proved to be an advantage. Show less

Offering events management support for an annual event. Actively involved with monitoring and logging bookings, arranging food and refreshments, allocating rooms, sorting expenses and transport, creating banners and posters, and welcoming people. Additional work has included proofreading, using mailchimp to send out mass emails, and updating internal and external websites.

I provide 'live referenced' subtitles for profoundly deaf students. As a lecturer speaks I take down as near as possible a verbatim transcription of what is said. Précising is sometimes required depending on the speed of speech.

This was a lovely role. I was first point-of-contact when either teachers or students attend an educational course. I registered, welcomed and generally facilitated the smooth working of the day before waving goodbye at the end.

The role I was covering was advertised. I applied and was appointed. The same tasks were undertaken: keeping 32 residents entertained. I created a monthly rota for activities, introduced new ideas, such as glass fusing, baking, alternative therapies, tai chi etc. The traditional weekly trip was extended to two weekly trips as I am able to drive a minibus. Working at Greenacres was a tough yet pleasurable role. I was recruited as Activities Assistant but my manager left on maternity leave a month after I was appointed; I was therefore promoted to cover her position. There are 32 residents with varying capabilities at Greenacres with ages ranging from 18-75 and it is the Activities team's role to keep them entertained.
