From my experience I get asked a lot why I didn't apply for management as soon as I joined Turtle Bay; my response - I'm a people person. I cannot manage a team fairly if I do not understand the highs and lows of their role.

"Discover your smile"- Guest focus- Making people happy- Organising special occasions- Running welcome meetings for over 100 guests almost daily; being a local expert, island expert, pushing sales, organising invitations, and flight times.- Going that extra mile to look after your guests! For example; those in hospital- checking they are alright, did they need anything, and sit with them, talk for a while.

Being a practising general manager i was able to apply my skills that I had learnt about myself as a supervisor. I knew my strongest areas, and weakest. I focused my time on sales still but set myself new challenges - maintaining standards and being in growth every year. My passion to compete with myself, the wider market,neighbouring site and last years performance enabled me to achieve greatness in my role. At a young age I was moved from site to site to support, and to influence the skills I had and implement these into existing sites in the district.

Annual KPI - driving salesRunning this KPI I was able to achieve sales performance from -7% to +10%. I was able to do this by motivating my team, setting incentives, monitoring sales and setting targets, changing visual aids; food displays, promotions via social media, flyers.Due to this achievement it enabled our store to be showered with a complete refurbishment. At 18 years old this was a great achievement for me; balancing being friends with my team but knowing where to be stern and business focused at all times. The store had be trying for a refurbishment for over four years.
