As an intern I worked with six different Registered Dietitians and one Diet Technician in the company. From this experience I gained knowledge on tube feeding, charts and labs, evaluating one's nutritional status, and working with others within the field. My every day responsibilities included going to People Inc housing, assessing individual's charts and writing up follow-up notes, and attending team meetings to discuss each individuals' plan of care. From this internship I was trained in SCIP-R and CPR/AED for individuals with disabilities who may require more assistance. This experience helped me to learn about the different specialties that are provided to those with disabilities in order for them to achieve their optimal quality of life. Working for this organization, I learned how to use programs such as Therap and how to effective communicate with other professionals and individuals using the person-centered approach.
