I also tutor A-Level English Literature, working especially on essay-writing, poetry and preparing for the exam.

Homeschooling: I have both homeschooling and residential tuition experience. I am currently homeschooling two students from Y9 and Y11 in English and RE.

I take the lead on the educational side of the Civitas Supplementary Schools Project.- Clarifying the educational vision, methods and principles of the Civitas Schools.- Co-interviewing potential teachers with the Director.- Organising and running training induction for new teachers. - Monitoring and supporting new teachers.- Educational support for teachers across the Schools Project.

The project teaches children who face educational disadvantage in Maths and English and trips outside of school. It espouses traditional teaching methods, classic literature and small class sizes. My role includes: - Introducing children to classic literature and learning poems by heart, working to develop a love of good writing, reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.- Rigorous teaching of grammar to develop a clear writing style and formal language knowledge; regular work on the rules of English spelling and also etymology.- Ensuring children can use English correctly to express their ideas in both writing and speaking.- Encouraging children to work to a high standard, to do their best in my class and complete homework independently.- Teaching those still struggling how to read using a structured course in synthetic phonics.- Leaning times tables and regularly practising mental arithmetic; work on problem-solving and number skills.- Planning weekly lessons throughout the year with freedom to focus on what is required.- Setting weekly homework and running regular assessments to test progress. - Leading all aspects of each school, supporting other teachers, liaising with head office, taking registers and fees, building relationships with parents.
