My role includes: - Introducing children to classic literature and learning poems by heart, working to develop a love of good writing, reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.- Rigorous teaching of grammar to develop a clear writing style and formal language knowledge; regular work on the rules of English spelling and also etymology.- Ensuring children can use English correctly to express their ideas in both writing and speaking.- Encouraging children to work to a high standard, to do their best in my class and complete homework independently.- Teaching those still struggling how to read using a structured course in synthetic phonics.- Leaning times tables and regularly practising mental arithmetic; work on problem-solving and number skills.- Planning weekly lessons throughout the year with freedom to focus on what is required.- Setting weekly homework and running regular assessments to test progress. - Leading all aspects of each school, supporting other teachers, liaising with head office, taking registers and fees, building relationships with parents.
