CCST provides the California Legislature and Governor's office with nonpartisan, independent advice on policies related to science. Initially, I am focusing on the Natural Gas Storage and Biomethane studies requested by the California Legislature.- I manage the Natural Gas Storage project requested pursuant to Governor's Brown's Proclamation of a State of Emergency related to the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility leak. The study will provide the state with an up-to-date, technical assessment of the thirteen natural gas storage fields in California. The assessment will include a broad review of potential health risks and community impacts associated with their operation, fugitive gas emissions, and the linkages between gas storage, California's current and future energy needs, and its greenhouse gas reduction goals.- I manage the Biomethane projected the Legislature requested pursuant to Senate Bill 840 (2016). CCST will scientifically assess the minimum heating value and maximum siloxanes specifications for the delivery of biomethane to the existing public natural gas pipelines. The purpose of the study is to examine their impacts to cost, volume of biomethane sold, equipment operation, and safety.

I performed bill analysis and examined policy questions related to agriculture, water, natural resources, energy, utilities, telecommunications, environmental toxicity and K-12 education. I enjoyed using my analytic viewpoint to examine policy problems, research policy solutions and build legislative bill packages.

Staff bills; analyze policy; provide vote recommendations and collaborate with stakeholderson utilities and commerce, natural resources, water, energy, environmental toxicity, judiciary,and business and professions issues; and additional and committee responsibilities. I spear headed legislation related to pregnancy discrimination against graduate students, the cost of textbooks, open educational resources, biomethane, and workforce development.

I am in charge of organizing all of the labs, chemical orders, the TA's, grading and working with our industry partners to provide real world industry projects for the labs.
