As the office coordinator and bookkeeper for two physical branches in Gillette, I am responsible for the security and tracking of thousands of dollars in cash used to pay for scrap metal loads, as well as the reconciliation of tens of thousands of dollars’ worth fuel, gases, materials, services and equipment secured via purchase cards, fuel cards and net-term invoices each month. I maintain fleet registration for nearly 30 vehicles and pieces of equipment, log and report destroyed scrap vehicles to the State of Wyoming, operate a 60-ton industrial scale, coordinated company functions, property tours and trade show booths; and use a combination of JD Edwards, MFiles and Wells Fargo CEO to maintain records. In early 2019, as our local presence expanded to two locations, I liaised with our corporate accounting and technology departments to ensure a smooth transition. I am the only Gillette employee to split each day between both stores.

I have observed the 2016 and 2020 elections on behalf of the Associated Press, reporting primary and general elections returns from Johnson County, Wyo., and observing the 2016 Campbell County, Wyo., GOP Caucus.I also have freelanced as an editor for blogs, press releases, letters and instructional booklets.

In addition to reporting on government, business, education, lifestyles, crime, politics and local oddities, I designed and proofread several pages per day, helping ensure content was concise, accurate and correctly spelled.

While designing and editing multiple pages per night, I also managed the copy desk several nights each week, assigning content for other designers, collecting content from reporters and photographers and the latest possible content from the Associated Press wire, all while ensuring that the pressmen had plates by deadline. My work encompassed news, sports and lifestyles, winning awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and Lee Enterprises and helping my colleagues’ work garner accolades of their own. My work at TDN also gave opportunities to volunteer with Longview’s Cardboard Boat Regatta and Gingerbread Haus Contest.

I designed multiple pages each night, ranging across news, lifestyles and sports and winning awards from the Wyoming Press Association and the Associated Press Sports Editors. I was responsible several nights each week for copy desk operations — ensuring content was submitted and edited and that pages were designed, proofread and sent to film or plate by deadline. I additionally was responsible for a separate weekly entertainment publication and multiple annual special publications pertinent to rodeo, football, basketball, back-to-school and hunting season.

I wrote, designed and edited monthly chamber newsletters and promotional material for chamber events. I was the Northeast Wyoming Contractors Association coordinator, writing a weekly newsletter and maintaining a contractors’ plan library. I organized and promoted banquets, home shows, luncheons, ribbon-cuttings, seminars, fundraisers and community cleanups.
