About Sarah Cook

I am a passionate, people-oriented Total Rewards Professional. With a strong background in benefits, the insurance industry and regulatory benefit compliance as well as a love for helping people, Human Resources was a natural path for me. Supporting innovative companies and employees by managing and improving processes, ensuring compliance and taking the pressure off employees and managers by helping them navigate benefits, learn and develop and understand and adhere to policies and procedures is my ultimate objective. I am constantly seeking new learning opportunities and never expect to limit myself to the functions and expectations outlined in my job description. I've often expanded my roles so much through my drive and excitement to learn new things that I created almost entirely new ones! This included taking on various finance, communication and L&D related tasks. Gaining knowledge in these arenas, as well as my various roles heavily based on core HR functions, helped me to really understand and facilitate how all the pieces of the Human Resources function fit and work together and how it interacts with other professional and operational functions. As someone who is very people-focused and used to be a bit intimated by things like managing large costs and analytics, I now get excited for the tasks that give me a chance to pursue these tasks and see definitive results and financial and wellbeing pictures of the business and more specifically, Human Resource activities. I have developed a new appreciation and enthusiasm for the administrative as well as financial planning side of business. And now for my favorite part: Benefits! I am especially passionate about all things benefits and compensation related. I have a well rounded, multifaceted understanding of employer benefits from the perspectives of employer Human Resources, benefit carriers, understanding claims and utilization, broker resources, medical provider activities, and employee and patient. My finance experience has served to helped me even better understand the costs, planning, and reconciliation involved and improve my reporting and recommendations for benefits and compensation. My experience with benefits has also translated well into employee relations and conducting onboarding and learning and development trainings as well as supporting People Managers and Business Partners. As of this year, I have also begun working through a Compensation certification and have developed a fresh excitement for the strategy and planning process behind Total Rewards.
