As the AQHA Director of Communications and Events, I managed all public relations for the largest single-breed equine registry in the world. I led the Association’s crisis communications team; developed positioning; and planned, promoted and executed AQHA’s marquee events.

In my role as AQHA Manager of Publicity and Special Events, I was responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communications plans that aligned with the strategic business goals of both AQHA and the American Quarter Horse Foundation. I managed media inquiries, ensuring that the organization's messaging was consistent and effective across global, national and local platforms. My work included preparing and editing a variety of publications, from press releases and blogs to event programs and public service announcements. Additionally, I crafted scripts, letters and speeches for executive communications, supporting the leadership in conveying key messages.I provided guidance to various departments, ensuring the success of public relations campaigns, and led the ongoing preparedness of AQHA's crisis management team. My role required close collaboration with departments and upper-level management to maintain an integrated strategic crisis communications plan. I also coordinated and executed special events for AQHA and the Foundation, ensuring each event was meticulously planned and successfully delivered.

As the AQHA Publicity and Special Events Liaison, I played a key role in strengthening and protecting the image and reputation of the American Quarter Horse and the Association as the industry leader. My responsibilities included managing public relations efforts, fostering cooperative relationships with community and media representatives and responding to media inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communication. I developed and implemented a crisis communications plan for AQHA, ensuring the organization was prepared to handle potential challenges effectively. Additionally, I planned and organized various high-profile events, including awards banquets and seminars, for AQHA and its Foundation. My role also involved writing and proofreading press releases, managing the AQHA News Twitter account and using digital platforms to disseminate information to media and AQHA members.

In my role as AQHA Manager of Communications, I led the development and distribution of press releases and key messaging for both the Association and its Foundation. I managed content across digital platforms, ensuring timely and effective communication about AQHA events and news. My responsibilities included enhancing and maintaining a robust list of media contacts and creating AQHA News’ Twitter account, which I managed to increase the Association’s social media presence. Additionally, I supported the Director of Communications in media and television interviews and played a pivotal role in planning, promoting and executing AQHA’s signature events, such as the annual convention, world championship shows and major races. I also wrote scripts for various banquets, ceremonies and presentations, ensuring each event's communication was polished and impactful.

As the AQHA Marketing Intern, I gained hands-on experience in crafting and distributing key communications for AQHA and the American Quarter Horse Foundation. I was responsible for writing and publishing press releases, managing content on AQHA's website and maintaining a comprehensive list of media contacts. My role also included assisting with the execution and promotion of major AQHA events and contributing to the Association's social media presence. A highlight of my internship was having a story I wrote published in America’s Horse magazine.
