Sarah Day Work Experience Details
  • Cordwainers @ London College Of Fashion (University Of The Arts London)
    Course Leader
Cordwainers @ London College Of Fashion (University Of The Arts London) Oct 2014 - Present
Having initially stood in as Acting course leader for 2 years in 2012, I took full responsibility for the BA Hons Footwear Course at LCF in 2014. This will be my 10th year running the course for Cordwainers at LCF. I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead for us as a course within a rapidly changing world. Embracing new technologies and fusing them with traditional techniques whilst embedding creative teaching practices, making Cordwainers @ LCF the VERY best course in Footwear design worldwide.
  • University Of The Arts London
    Design Lecturer
University Of The Arts London Oct 2004 - Present
    London, United Kingdom
I initially began working as a part time lecturer at Cordwainers@The London College of Fashion to explore new avenues and give back some of my knowledge to a new generation and to an industry that has given me so much. It became apparent very quickly that I was hooked on this information exchanging they call teaching, and have been here ever since. Recently I have been made a permanent member of staff with specific responsibilities for the 2nd year BA students, although I teach Footwear design across 5 year groups on BA and FDA courses. I love teaching and enjoy every aspect of helping our students achieve the best results possible. There is no other job that I have found that is so rewarding in terms of watching people grow and develop.
  • Warnsey
    Design Consultant
    Warnsey 1998 - 2011
    London, United Kingdom
I set up my Consultancy business in 1998, and ran a very successful design and sourcing service for 13 years. I covered every genre of design, Men's, Women's and Kids. While also specialising in Sports footwear and performance product. My client list boasted some of the most prominent shoe companies of recent times such as Clarks and I worked on projects for many of the UK's most famous retail names, such as Next and M&S under my permanent contract with OPS in London.
  • Pentland Brands
    Shoe Designer
    Pentland Brands Aug 1993 - Jul 1998
    London
Originally employed by Chairman Stephen Rubin to undertake research and development of a running brand from the 50's, I soon became employed by various Pentland Brands such as Pony, Kickers and Lacoste. I worked on performance Sports projects for Pony including creating and engineering performance sports products for pro players of Football, Cricket and Basketball. I worked on Lifestyle products for many other Pentland companies covering all genders and product types. I travelled the world extensively to Northern America, Europe and Asia, building an excellent reputation for quality of work and personal integrity. I latterly became the Senior designer at Lacoste in charge of Far East production before leaving the company in 1998 to set up my consultancy.
  • Sunkyong Europe Ltd
    Shoe Designer
    Sunkyong Europe Ltd 1991 - 1993
After relocating back to London I began working for Sunkyong Europe Ltd, which was a Korean trading company, designing styles for Sports Brand - Arrow Shoes and European counterpart brand, Touchdown. I specialised in Kids design but worked on Mens and Ladies ranges too. My Kids ranges became a big seller with mail order and distributors alike. At this time I also became involved in the design and technical work we undertook for the origination of Football boots for a host of Pro-players, including Andy Townsend (Chelsea) Mark Bright ( Crystal Palace) and David Platt (ex-England) for our successful Soccer range. Redundancy bought an end to this role and the company in later years was dissolved.
  • Clarks International
    Senior Designer
    Clarks International 1989 - 1991
Working for Clarks as a junior designer in 1989 and having been employed as a freelance Senior consultant for various periods of time since then until 2010. Travel with Clarks took me to many European countries and The Far East. Clarks has been one of the most constant champions of my work for so many years and there is no doubt their training and support has been one of the most important skills providers of my career.
