I work with students in high school science and math courses to give them the resources they need to be able to understand the material and solve questions effectively. The subjects I tutor include the following: biology, chemistry, physics, math, functions, advanced functions, and calculus.

This summer research position was focused on the impacts of deer browsing on native trees in local Carolinian forests. This position involved literature review, study design and planning, data collection, analysis, and a final paper and presentation of the results. The research involved vegetation surveys at two test sites and soil analysis (soil organic matter, nitrate, and phosphate determination) in a laboratory. Data analysis was done using Microsoft Excel and R Studio.

I helped with cell biology, microbiology, and biochemistry labs. In this role, I collected all the materials and aliquotted the chemicals needed for the cell biology labs, kept the agar plates and nutrient broths stocked for the microbiology labs, and prepared and aliquotted solutions for biochemistry labs.

I tutored students in several classes including introductory chemistry and biology, organic chemistry, and genetics. This involved guiding students through complex material and providing strategies for approaching difficult questions.

I worked full-time on both indoor and outdoor jobs. Indoor jobs often involved priming and painting walls, trim, and doors. I also did clear-coating and staining of trim and stairs. Outdoor jobs often involved painting siding or staining wood/log siding. Many jobs also involved sanding and staining entire decks, painting exterior doors, or staining boards.

I really enjoyed working at Stirling Lodge multiple summers, gaining experience in dishwashing, housekeeping, and cooking. As I worked in the kitchen more, I became more independent and cooked multiple meals as the main breakfast cook, and worked as an assistant cook for many lunches and dinners.

I worked the odd shift at Camp IAWAH in the kitchen and dish room during many of the different Christian conventions held there.
