In March 2016, I started the blog, Science of Connectedness. The blog is based on my published research about spirituality as a feeling of Connectedness. Each blog post features a different spiritual tool based on current academic research and contemporary books on spirituality. Topics include conscious breathing, gratitude, and religious (and spiritual) communities. The research-based Connectedness Evaluation I created--featured on the blog--has received positive feedback from physicians who have used it to help individuals experiencing depression.I created company based on this blog in August 2018: Science of Connectedness, LLC.

Conversations on Connectedness: A Qualitative Research Project Envisioned and conducted all aspects of a qualitative study based on my previously published definition of spirituality: generated interview guide; coordinated and conducted 15 one-hour interviews; coded and analyzed data. This was a paid field education placement that ended with the academic year.

Psychosocial, Oncology & Palliative Care Lab

Harvard's Initiative on Health, Religion, and Spirituality and the National Clergy Project on End-of-Life CareCompleted a summer field education placement with Rev. Michael Balboni, MDiv, PhD, and Dr. Tracy Balboni, MD, MPH on the National Clergy Project on End-of-Life Care. Work included: analyzing quantitative data in STATA; analyzing, creating a coding scheme, and coding qualitative data in NVIVO; engaging in theological discussions about research and ministry; reading academic literature on the topic of religion and medicine; writing regular blog posts for my blog, scienceofconnectedness.com; and writing a paper for publication as first author. This was a paid summer field education placement with a set duration, although work on publications continued past the initial placement.

Ubc Okanagan Health, Ethics And Diversity Lab

Worked for Dr. Barbara Pesut (UBC Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Health, Ethics and Diversity), whose research focuses on the role of spirituality within healthcare and the improvement of end-of-life care. Role included: analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, writing briefs on current health-, spirituality- and religion-related topics, and improving Dr. Pesut’s online presence through various online platforms.
