Due to COVID-19 I finished my second year in the Engineers in Leadership program back in the United States. I worked as an Operations Engineer at a flow meter manufacturing plant. I served as Project Manager for a team designing a manufacturing layout; I also supported in modeling the 3D version in Autodesk Inventor. Additionally, I was supporting a team performing a Life Cycle Assessment on a product.

During my second rotation I worked as an Operations Engineer at a large compressor manufacturing plant in China. I collaborated on Lean projects and analyzed performance metrics. I made suggestions for process improvement which decreased the cycle time. As part of Emerson’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Initiative, I also worked with the plant’s management team to collect emissions information and brainstorm improvement projects.Unfortunately, my rotation in China was cut short due to COVID-19. I enjoyed learning there and hope to live overseas again.
