Conceived, launched and then edited and published for seven years one of the most well-regarded and prosperous titles in the Edible Communities network of more than 90 local food magazines. Assembled a terrific team and won several awards for the magazine’s coverage, which became known for in-depth examinations of food system issues, such as immigration and farmworker rights, as well as insightful and timely profiles and and stellar recipes, all beautifully illustrated. Won a top Eddy Award for a special issue that explored the intersection of food and water during the protracted California drought. Wrote for the magazine as well as its blog, e-newsletter and social media, which together became the most popular and respected source of breaking food news covering the Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito County foodshed. In 2018, sold the magazine and shifted to a role of consultant and later, freelance contributor.

Won a state public service award from the New Jersey Press Association for an investigative series of articles exposing a commercial real estate investor who had deceived ratings agencies to finance his neglected apartment buildings through an early commercial mortgage-backed securitization. Soon after the stories ran, the investor defaulted on his loans and his underwriter, DLJ, was forced to seize his more than 50 properties. Reported and wrote the series while competing with three other daily newspapers to cover all aspects of life in North Brunswick.
