I am originally a senior neonatal nurse of 15 years. I was then approached & asked if I would do the university course to become an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I qualified in 2017 & have been building on my experience at the level 3 neonatal unit in Cardiff. I assist in caring for complex ventilated neonates & infants requiring non-invasive respiratory support. I also attend high risk deliveries such as extreme preterm, surgical & fetal medicine babies. I assist in extensive resuscitations & transfers to the NICU from other areas. I work on the tier 1 medical rota alongside my neonatologists & supporting the junior Drs.
