For over eight years, I've been working with children (aged six months to twelve years old) as a babysitter, tutor and camp counselor. As a childcare provider, it is my duty to: entertain and engage through games, crafts and other activities, depending on a child’s age and interest and guidance from their parents; assist children with homework and school-related projects; drive children to and from school, play dates, and recreational activities, supervising when appropriate; relieve child injuries and sickness by performing first aid and administering medicine; attend to children’s emotions, and diffuse disagreements between children; maintain trusting relationships with parents and adhere to adult instructions regarding child supervision, needs, and interests.

Research at Bard's CDP explores the way that preschool children think about themselves and their social world. Under Dr. Sarah Dunphy-Lelii, I collaborated with a team of fellow undergraduate researchers to develop and conduct studies involving simple games in which children play one-on-one with a member of our research team with small toys, stickers, and action figures. By studying children's responses to these games, our team was able to learn important aspects of the way they think about themselves and their world.

As a tour guide for Bard Admissions, my duties included: greeting and registering prospective students and visitors; escorting individuals and groups on campus tours, answering pertinent questions and speaking to my experience as a Bard student; participation in ongoing skills enhancement, and training of new tour guides and volunteers; providing information, direction, and student perspective to attendees at various events throughout the academic year, such as Bard Admitted Students Day.

Throughout the spring semester of 2022, I interned at UIDN, a non-profit whose mission is to provide a network of safety and support to Ulster County's immigrant population, regardless of status. I volunteered weekly for the UIDN Helpline, answering calls from individuals in need of information, translation or other assistance in meeting their physical and financial needs. Whenever possible, I provided such assistance, as well as taking on various case management tasks, assisting individuals in need of more long term support (i.e., organizing official appointments, transportation, support through legal, medical, and bureaucratic matters). Additionally, volunteered at UIDN’s weekly food pantry. Though I no longer hold an official internship position at this organization, I plan to return as a volunteer at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year.

From June through August of 2019 and 2021, I worked with Ellen Greaves, an accomplished personal chef. As Greaves' assistant, my duties included: cleaning, sanitizing and assembling cooking and dining areas; shopping for and preparing a variety of gourmet meals, according to Chef Greaves’ instructions and conscientious, sustainable procedures; serving meals to both routine and event-based clientele; cleaning and disassembling work and dining areas; saving, packing up and organizing leftovers for clients when necessary.
