  In this position several tests were conducted including total coliform/E.Coli detect/count, Heterotrophic Plant Count (pour plate and simplate method), pH, color, turbidity, enterococcus count, Iron Related Bacteria, and fecal coliform (membrane filtration method). Media was often made weekly or biweekly or was purchased for tests. Analysts were responsible for ordering media and keeping an appropriate amount in stock. For the media purchased and made quality control was often done with a blank and a spiked media. Quality control was also conducted on materials that were coming in contact with samples, such as pipettes. Monthly quality control was also conducted to check equipment and air quality. Once the tests were completed results, times, and temperatures were recorded and the results were entered into LIMS. If a drinking water test came back positive for total coliform and/or E. coli, the client was contacted with the results through a phone call. This position involved strong time management skills as tests could only be read with a specific time frame and some clients had expected time frames for results. This position also required troubleshooting if a piece of equipment was behaving oddly or if a test was having unexpected results.
