Senior Speech-Language Pathologist
Current• Conduct feeding/swallowing evaluations in the Pediatric Unit, Congenital Cardiovascular ICU, Pediatric ICU and Neonatal ICU for a variety of patient populations • Provide evidence-based treatment for feeding/swallowing disorders, determine optimal timing for objective swallow assessments and monitor progress with developed care plans • Conduct speech/language evaluations and treatment for patients with acute speech/language disorders and support speech/language development for patients with developmental delays requiring prolonged admissions • Provide parental education/training regarding feeding/swallowing and speech/language treatment strategies • Collaborate with subspecialty team members (surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, GI, pulmonology, cardiology) regarding diagnoses, prognosis, and care planning • Participate in family meetings to provide clinical/professional opinions and assist with treatment and discharge planning• Preform Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS) for neonatal, infant and pediatric patients (0-21 years of age) • Provide support and assistance to team members during Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) • Mentor undergraduate students who are participants of the Health Career Opportunity Program (HCOP) • Supervise and mentor graduate students during their clinical externships
