About Sarah Eldridge

As an adolescent mental health and youth worker of over 20 years experience in a variety of different roles, I am proficient in all areas of adolescent mental health and youth work from direct client support to professional supervision of students and staff. Particular areas of strength include supporting Youth Work, Mental Health and Community Services students to find their passion and receive professional supervision and experience within the field, advocacy to clients, establishment of new programmes and most importantly mentoring and development of young people. Areas of passion include working with homeless and at-risk young people, working with youth who are disengaged from main-stream education and supporting them in finding alternative education and working with young people who are disenfranchised and assisting them to find, develop and achieve their goals. I also have extensive experience in post-disaster recovery having worked for a number of years with adolescents post-Black Saturday. As a former minister of religion, I am an experienced and engaging preacher who has had experience preaching to small groups and at large festivals. As a teacher I work closely with my students to instil a passion for the sector and to teach and hone the skills they will require to be best-practice workers. I teach using a narrative approach, allowing students to dissect real life stories and put theory into practice.I'm passionate about social justice and advocating to government and leadership about the needs of a community. I'm experienced in change-management and have not only led significant change-management within a local church and community centre context but have also guided others through this process.
