After nearly 20 years working across the HIV sector i am delighted to have taken up the CEO position at AVERT who have been providing HIV education and partnership to NGO's for nearly 30 years. I join at an exciting time of change and development for AVERT and look forward to directing a strategy for growth and stability to ensure AVERT continues to play a vital and important role in the global response. Through AVERT.org we reach millions of users who continue to need basic information on HIV to prevent infection and support those already living with HIV. We provide a global resource to support those working in the HIV response to ensure they have easy access to up-to-date impartial and well written information. As CEO i am responsible for all operational organizational,fiscal and strategy development and work alongside the Board of Trustees.

Responsible for guiding the prevention strategy of a multi-country Caribbean regional USAID HIV prevention programme targeted at the most at risk and most vulnerable populations. This was an exciting and dynamic programme working in very diverse and challenging environments. Key successes included training and supporting a team of over 40 community HIV educators, producing training and educational materials, increasing access to HIV testing and treatment, working with the local Governments to reduce stigma and tackling a number of the key drivers to the epidemic in the Caribbean including sex trafficking.

Provided management and technical support to 5 Countries in the Southern Africa region implementing multi-donor, multi-focused HIV prevention, treatment and care programmes. I lead a team of 6 staff and supported 3 large country office programmes. I was key staff on a number of USAID PEPFAR programmes including a number being jointly delivered with Johns Hopkins University. I managed a number of new programme start ups including the start up of a HIV carers programme in South Africa. I lead on the regional strategy development, donor reporting and grant and financial management for multi-million dollar grants.

Lead a team of HIV prevention specialist tasked with providing technical support and guidance to the Global Alliance Partners implementing HIV prevention programmes in a range of settings from focused epidemics to hyper epidemic Countries. Experience in proposal development, grant management and donor reporting.

Partnership development and support of 6 CAFOD implementing partners working in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. I was responsible for overseeing the implementation and sharing best practice in the areas of prevention, home based care, treatment and community engagement. I supported additional grant applications to support the CAFOD partners and developed their monitoring and evaluation systems. The regional food security crisis further required management and oversight of emergency food distribution through home based care programmes with support from a DFID grant.

International volunteer position based with local Zimbabwean NGO - Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention and Support Organization. Responsible for setting up new HIV testing and referral clinic in Masvingo supported by UNFPA and DANIDA funding. Was responsible for the recruitment and training of the counselling and support team and running the testing clinic including outreach programmes and setting standards on good care and follow-up.
