Try Pie is a teen employment program for high school aged women in the Cedar Valley. We hire teens to make pie as a first job experience, and pair time in the kitchen with monthly classroom workshops and mentoring, focusing on job skill development, financial literacy, growth in faith and identity, and building friendships across divides in our community. As one of two full-time leaders of Try Pie, this experience has taught me a lot. Being a part of this organization since it's early stages has built experience in each piece of developing this nonprofit social enterprise. Beginning our programming in a local church kitchen deepened skills of resourcefulness, innovation, program development and partnership. As we grew out of that space, we shared vision to fund raise for our own brick and mortar store in Downtown Waterloo. Try Pie's growth and development into the operation it is has stretched and inspired me as I've found myself in the overlap between business and social impact. I'm thrilled to work with and learn from young women, and glad to be a part of the Waterloo community.

Scanned a development resource library into an ebook format using Flip Builder software.
