Like many others I started my professional career with an idea of what I wanted, and to me this was a career in childcare. After starting out at college I soon found out this wasn’t the right fit for me at that time.I was fortunate enough to be offered a role, through family referral, in the field of accountancy within the automotive industry. This was not the linear, planned career path I would have imagined when looking out into industry from school. Over the course of ten years, I operated in several organisations, making sideways and upwards moves, trying to climb the ‘career ladder’. There were notable highs and lows, as I served all to the best of my abilities. Throughout my career I had a sense of wanting to do more for others, to care, support and help other people grow. My career path diverted as we started our family. This started a new chapter for me, and in many ways enabled me to find my true passions and evolve my capabilities and portfolio into personal development and supporting others with theirs. Since stepping into the world of P34B, I have experienced a profound transformation in my understanding of the complex challenges of modern-day businesses. In many ways my accountancy roles were far more stable, routine and predictable than modern day business development. This step change and shift in my perspective has enabled me to appreciate the needs of people and understand how they may really feel as they transition into or between industries. I have, by chance and maybe fate, found a new space where I can be me, to play a supportive yet progressive role in our business, and develop my own style, portfolio and place in the world of modern business. I love learning and continuing to grow. I have returned to university to study coaching and started to learn sign language. I am excited about how this businesses, my skills and my role are evolving, with us all continually learning, to become the best we can be.
