Current• Head of the English curriculum team; creating, implementing and monitoring a broad English curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate and amalgamated with the UK Curriculum for English.• Working alongside the Deputy Head teacher to create assessment rubrics to effectively level, monitor and boost student progress and attainment. • Adapting our English curriculum to meet UK standards of assessment.• Raising student progress and attainment from Acceptable to Very Good.• Introducing and monitoring Systematic Synthetic Phonics teaching for EY-Y3, in a school with 76% EAL students.• Training and mentoring new and established teachers in the teaching of Reading and Phonics, using Read Write Inc. and Letters and Sounds• Hosting training workshops for parents to support learning at home.• Creating a range of documents to support teachers (Spelling and Grammar schemes, handwriting policy and new marking schemes).• Fostering a positive attitude toward reading and writing through whole school activities and competitions.• Working alongside Assessment Coordinator to track student progress in Reading, Writing and Spelling for years EY-Y6.• Using data to inform decisions about curriculum and materials.• Working with high school English team to ensure a smooth transition.• Maintaining positive relationships with parents, teachers and students.• Developing skills in problem-solving, decision-making, planning, delegation, communication, and staff management.• Other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher.
