If you asked me as a child, in my teens or into my 20’s what my career aspirations were you would have been met with typical answers such as teacher, doctor, social worker among many other jobs depending on the day you asked me. What you would not have been met with is the response “I’d like to be managing people - working together and driving a team to achieve shared, positive outcomes.” Now that’s exactly what I am doing and I could not imagine feeling like any other role would be better suited for me. Over the last 10 years I have built skills in people management, financial understanding, stock and inventory control and performance management among many others and have utilised these skills across roles ranging from assistant manager of a small call centre to a business support manager covering a group of regional stores. I believe that people who feel valued in their roles and as humans perform better and achieve better outcomes and foster this as a leader to grow and develop my people while continuously growing and developing myself. I also believe that work does not feel so much like work when you are having fun and endeavour to incorporate an element of fun, friendship and laughter into the business environment while continuing to achieve results. My aim is to continue to develop my business leadership skills in roles and environments that allow me to use connections with the people on the frontline to achieve positive results, foster growth and development for the people involved and develop/explore new and innovative ways of achieving results.
