I work in the Sparrows Flying Squad supervising and Carrying out maintenance on offshore cranes.This position can involve anything from carrying out PMR's CCE's Routine Maintenance, Breakdowns to complete change out / new installations of offshore cranes. This normally involves supervising a team of mechanics, riggers and hydraulic tech.

I am employed by Halfords Autocentres as an Assistant Manager for the opening of their new centre in Inverness. We run a busy 5 bay workshop and undertake a substantial amount of fleet work via 1link. In the absence of the site manager, I am responsible for running the centre as a whole, including analysing profit loss and implementing changes to ensure profitability. In this role I also act as Senior Tech and am responsible for overseeing the work and diagnostics of 4 technicians, as well as completing hands on work myself.

In my role at Arnold Clark the majority of my day was filled with MOT testing and diagnostics. I diagnosed and repaired modern cars and light commercials as well as fault finding on electrical and multiplex systems. I enjoyed my time here and the challenges of the diagnostic work but felt career progression was important and therefore had to move on.

The majority of my day was filled with completing MOT tests in accordance with VOSA Guidelines, carrying out servicing, diagnostics and repairs. I was responsible for MOT testing in a well established dealership and pride myself on ensuring each test was carried out to the highest possible standard.

I was responsible for hiring and monitoring staff performance, 7 members of staff were employed in my team, ensuring customer expectations were met / exceeded. I ensured the company always met the requirements of the MOT scheme and that tests were constantly assessed / QC'd and that all relevant calibrations and paperwork was up to date. Dealt with customer queries / complaints, invoicing etc. Ran workshop to a budget, produced profit loss accounts and general month end reports. Using these reports I was responsible for ensuring maximum profits were achieved while still maintaining a high level of customer service and therefore customer loyalty. I also dealt with customer accounts and collections. I was also hands on working on all types of engines from lawn mowers to HGVs including some hydraulic work.

I started at manpower Providing Tech support for BT Celnets Genie Internet, supporting win 95, 98 and NT4 through dial up connection. Once the product was properly launched I was promoted to Trainer as we urgently needed to recruit and train around 200 support & Management staff as well as continual training needs analysis. I produced and delivered courses in many areas including customer care, IT training, Health and Safety, Train the Trainer and Management courses.
