Represented clients in a wide range of federal and state litigation matters and successfully obtained dismissal in several of those matters. In my litigation experience, I defended employers against claims of wrongful discharge, retaliation, harassment, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and discrimination claims asserted under Title VII, the Alaska Human Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). I also represented clients in administrative proceedings and investigations involving the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Alaska State Commission on Human Rights (ASCHR).In addition to litigation, my practice also included counseling employers to minimize their exposure to litigation. I worked with employers on day-to-day employment issues that arise in the course of business, including advising companies on employee disciplinary issues, drafting severance and settlement agreements, and guiding employers on how to comply with federal and state laws. I also frequently worked with employers to draft and modify employee handbooks and policies to ensure an effective workplace.
