Oversaw Core HR and compliance functions, supervising leave teams, as well as drug and alcohol/background check processes. Worked closely with team on several training and development initiatives and projects aimed at improving compliance and employee onboarding experience. Provided daily employment counsel, and advised on employee disciplinary actions/internal investigations.

Served as Associate General Counsel, working closely with the HR Department on daily personnel matters and workplace investigations, drafting and negotiating contract terms, and overseeing company litigation matters.

Worked closely with HR Department on day-to-day employment matters, as well as establishing policies and processes to minimize risk; oversaw litigation matters; and worked closely with stock department on an array of legal matters.

Served as a Labor & Employment counsel and gained extensive experience working with Alaska companies, local governments, and Native Corporations. Represented clients in a wide range of federal and state litigation matters and successfully obtained dismissal in several of those matters. In my litigation experience, I defended employers against claims of wrongful discharge, retaliation, harassment, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and discrimination claims asserted under Title VII, the Alaska Human Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). I also represented clients in administrative proceedings and investigations involving the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Alaska State Commission on Human Rights (ASCHR).In addition to litigation, my practice also included counseling employers to minimize their exposure to litigation. I worked with employers on day-to-day employment issues that arise in the course of business, including advising companies on employee disciplinary issues, drafting severance and settlement agreements, and guiding employers on how to comply with federal and state laws. I also frequently worked with employers to draft and modify employee handbooks and policies to ensure an effective workplace. I also regularly conducted internal workplace investigations to investigate allegations of employee misconduct, hostile work environment claims, and claims of discrimination/harassment.
