• I have been a dedicated member of the English department for eleven years in my current role. As an experienced teacher, I have always put the needs of my students at the heart of everything I do. I have built positive, strong and professional relationships with both students and colleagues which have been maintained throughout this time. • I held the responsibility of KS4 coordinator which entailed overseeing the GCSE Language and Literature courses by developing engaging shared classroom resources, analysing data to identify under-performing students, working with the senior leadership team on strategy and improvement plans and delivering targeted revision sessions. • I was selected by my Head of Department as a mentor for trainee teachers on placement at the school. This entailed: modelling effective teaching strategies including communication of information to students of a wide range of abilities; providing constructive and well considered feedback to trainees; and writing end of placement reports for University tutors with reference to how teacher standards had been/ had not been met. • Most recently, I implemented and am overseeing the teaching of a new GCSE Functional Skills English course to promote inclusivity and improve student communication skills. I have had to effectively manage and track deadlines over the past two years to ensure students were prepared for the various exam opportunities and exam components. In addition, I have provided effective updates on deadlines for classroom teachers, designed high- quality student resources and organised successful moderation meetings to critique student work.

• In this brief job, I worked as a supply teacher across a variety of schools in Bristol and had placements ranging from one day to a full week. This demonstrated my dynamism in terms of being able to adapt to different environments in a short space of time. • In some placements, I was also exposed to challenging situations which required me to use my calm and composed demeanour to resolve each one. I received many repeat bookings from schools who were impressed with my professional approach.

• I held the role of KS3 coordinator, including the additional responsibilities of managing the English information room during the school annual Open Evening. For this event, I wrote and produced the display content aimed at prospective parents and students as well as innovating a strategy for my team to engage and communicate with visitors effectively. • I also co-directed several school musicals where I used my leadership skills to direct scenes as well as managing the production team to ensure they worked together harmoniously. In addition, I achieved an ‘Outstanding Staff’ award for my pastoral dedication to students.
