I am studying the Master of Clinical Psychology, and I am particularly interested in working directly with trauma survivors and Autistic individuals. I am committed to helping people cope with their personal challenges and struggles, as demonstrated by my experiences as a Volunteer Lifeline Telephone Crisis Counsellor, work in research and grants and working directly with individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, such as Down Syndrome.I want to use my interdisciplinary perspective to work directly with people living with mental health issues, as well as contribute to public health promotion and policy. I want to improve the framework for the prevention and treatment of health, including mental health, issues. I believe clinical work and health promotion and policy is important, as it has enormous implications for people accessing health services, their support network, and improving the working conditions of psychologists and other allied health and healthcare workers.Ultimately, I would love to pursue a health hybrid career through combined clinical mental health work and public health promotion and policy. My hope for the future is the full inclusion of all ages, cultures and neurodivergent individuals in all walks of life, as well as adequate support for our allied health and healthcare workforce.Outside of work and my studies, I enjoy music, design and art. My artistic taste is pretty eclectic, but it’s really the “feeling” of something that is the most important to me in art, design and music. Perhaps one day, I will be able to include a creative/artistic component in my hybrid career.
