At PharmEnable, we are developing a pipeline of novel therapeutics based on complex and specific novel molecules against challenging biological targets. Our aim is to replicate the specificity of biologics in the powerful and scalable form of a small molecule. Combining AI techniques and diversity-generating methodologies, we efficiently explore and map the possible chemical universe, designing small molecules that are complex, 3-dimensional and inspired by nature.

- Identification and optimisation of novel small molecule inhibitors of an RNA helicase - Experience in cloning, construct design, recombinant protein expression, protein crystallisation and structure determination, ultimately enabling a fragment screening campaign.- Investigation of parallel hit validation strategies and subsequent design of follow-up compounds using medicinal chemistry concepts, including structure-based design and navigating structure-activity relationship data.

8-week visiting student position between the Structural Genomics Consortium and Diamond Light Source conducting X-ray based fragment screening campaigns against a number of targets using novel 3-D fragment libraries developed at The University of Cambridge.

Industrial placement student. My role included the design and synthesis of medicinal compounds, working in collaboration with senior team members to progress the project.
