Sarah Lock has joined AMMA as its new Manager Consulting – Coal. Ms Lock brings 14 years experience in the workplace relations area in both the government and private sectors and has a range of complementary business and legal qualifications.She is admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and specialises in providing advice on agreement making, unfair dismissal claims, adverse action claims, redundancy and restructuring, and other employee relations matters.As well as managing existing day-to-day consulting activities for AMMA’s East Coast operations, Sarah is specifically working with coal sector employers on specific workforce relations issues and related business strategies pertinent to this Industry.

Areas of Work‘• Provide high level/authoritative employee relations advisory and support services to Queensland Health, Hospital and Health Services (HHS) and other key stakeholders.• Manage all aspects of industrial disputes (including prevention of potential disputes);• Play a lead role in enterprise bargaining processes, including negotiation, conciliation and arbitration;• Identify and respond to new and emerging IR issues and advise on the long term implications for Queensland Health;• Prepare and deliver advocacy on behalf of Queensland Health in proceedings before the QIRC and other Tribunals;• Conduct major reviews on industrial relations services, practices, procedures and policies including leading high level analysis, and developing and promoting changes to support the department’s objectives;• Manage the research, development and analysis of high level reports, decisions and recommendations relating to critical workforce relations matters;• Represent the Department in various industrial forums, committees and consultative groups and in negotiations with industrial organisations.
