Practicing within our Farming and Rural, Litigation and Employment teams, Sarah McKenzie is a Partner and respected leader in our firm. She has extensive experience gained as a lawyer in both New Zealand and a major law firm in London. Sarah has acquired a wealth of knowledge during her time practicing, becoming an expert in many different fields of law. She approaches her work in a diligent and thoughtful manner, treating every client with respect and working with them to efficiently achieve their objective. Sarah’s practice areas include acting for the Crown for criminal matters. Sarah is a highly skilled advocate, making regular appearances in the District and High Courts. She also assists with departmental prosecutions for various Government departments. Additionally, where appropriate, Sarah assists clients in resolving disputes through alternative dispute resolution avenues, including employment and civil mediations. This demonstrates one of Sarah’s many strengths – her ability to vary her approach to achieve the best results in different contexts, whether the situation requires collaboration, negotiation or stronger advocacy. Sarah’s practice area extends further; regularly advising in rural property matters and working on civil claims for private clients. She also advises and represents the Invercargill City Council for a large range of issues. Establishing strong community ties is something that Sarah takes pride in. She enjoys acting as a Director and Trustee for several local organizations as well as being the Honorary Solicitor for the Southland SPCA . From a personal perspective, Sarah has a longstanding interest in the horse-racing industry which was nurtured from an early age on the family farm.
