Current• Assist the Planning Director in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Planning Department within the Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) in the provision of services and execution of regional land use and long-term planning projects.• Manage, monitor, plan, and coordinate essential functions within the department including all activities within the Current and Advanced planning divisions, environmental planning and CEQA review, administration of the budget… Show more • Assist the Planning Director in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Planning Department within the Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) in the provision of services and execution of regional land use and long-term planning projects.• Manage, monitor, plan, and coordinate essential functions within the department including all activities within the Current and Advanced planning divisions, environmental planning and CEQA review, administration of the budget contracts, as well as handling personnel and hiring matters. • Evaluate, interpret, and administer applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to land use and planning activities. • Prepare ordinances, resolutions, and general plan documents related to long-term planning for the County, including the recent certification of the County’s Housing Element.• Formulate, recommend, implement, and monitor operational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the department and assist in the formulation and implementation of long-range goals for the department.• Prepare and direct the preparation of department correspondence and reports including Board agenda transmittals, general plan reports, grant/funding proposals, and other major project reports.• Make presentations to County Board of Supervisors and conduct public hearings related to land use and planning.• Assist in the planning, development, and monitoring of a department budget and contracts.• Establish and maintain effective expectations, policies, practices, and procedures and assist with the development of a positive culture that focuses on continuous quality improvement.• Partner with departments within TLMA, as well as other County departments to create effective teams to address current and advanced planning projects.• Serve as a liaison for members of the public, the development community, private agencies, and stakeholders.• Interact with members of the Board of Supervisors and their staff.
