Supporting the team in their revolutionary work is so rewarding. Analysing their data to assess the impact of their menu changes on carbon emissions is crucial to spreading the word and to raise funding to enable them to continue their work. As the numbers in the team and partnerships grow, it is essential that they streamline their data collection and communication records to maximise the use of their precious time. The need to implement a CRM became clear and I was pivotal in implementing this. By streamlining processes they can be proactive to maximise their impact. It’s a little different from my usual accounting work but equally rewarding as I am passionate about their mission. Being asked to apply for the Earth Shot Prize 2024 is phenomenal recognition of the progress we are making in cutting emissions and making the planet a more sustainable place for the future. Fingers crossed we are selected for the next round later in 2024.

I thoroughly enjoyed supporting their work with school caterers to improve children’s health called the ‘School Plates Programme’. They are passionate about making school menus more sustainable, more nutritious and increase the uptake of plant based alternatives. Along the way I have learnt more about the cause and my passion for helping children meet their full potential. They will become the leaders of the future, so to make them healthy and more open to plant based food is essential. I am exploring how to measure the impact of the changes prompted by ProVeg. I have been working with the Programme Manager as they set up an accreditation scheme to promote their cause and encourage healthy competition between their ‘School Plates Programme’ partners.

I am very proud to have been entrusted with this new responsibility. I am working on getting their finances into top shape to provide financial confidence, as they go from strength to strength.

Supporting this small charity to protect the waterways of Essex and Suffolk is very rewarding. I am passionate about creating a better world for everyone to enjoy especially for our children in the future. Good financial management is critical to enable all their fantastic plans to be achieved.

I am honoured to have been chosen to cover this critical role during maternity leave. By supporting survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery, this small charity is doing some fantastic work with a vision to grow and support even more women and children this year.

It was very exciting to be part of a small dynamic team, who are making great strides in transforming businesses to be better for people and the planet. Reviewing their Pricing Structure has been my focus as this is essential to enable the business to grow and support even more B-Corps. Good financial management will ensure they future proof themselves and drive the future B-Corp movement. I also initiated the drive to improve their financial support structure by reviewing their outsourced accountants and seeking a new financial system to empower them on the next stage of their journey.

I give short interactive talks to spread the message to primary school children about being Animal Kind’. It’s a programme that encourages them to help animals, and the wider ecosystem, by showing compassion and empathy for our fellow non-human animals.

As a highly experienced Chartered Management Accountant I have performed a number of roles within the police including Finance Manager/Management Accountant, Corporate Accounting Manager and also acted up as the Chief Accountant twice.I worked full time for 17 years then went part time to enjoy my daughter before she starts school in Sept 23. I joined as the Corporate Accounting Manager leading a team of eight staff who provided the technical support to enable completion of budget setting and the closure of the accounts. I implemented a new costing model for 3000+ officers and staff to ensure we set an accurate budget. I was also responsible for investing surplus funds in accordance with the Treasury Management policy.During the last 15 years I have really enjoyed my Finance Manager/Management Accountant role supporting many non-finance colleagues. I have provided financial support and advice to a variety of departments including IT, Media, HR, Business Services, Estates and Transport. I have supported them to meet their objectives in terms of setting, monitoring and forecasting budgets. I ensure best use of public money, providing a link between operational needs and strategic objectives alongside maintaining accurate financial reporting for the Police & Crime Commissioner.I have acted up into the Chief Accountant role twice, both for around 6 months. The first time I led on the strategic budget setting process with the Chief Officer team to ensure we set a balanced budget within the precept cap limits. The second time I led the closure of the accounts, setting and communicating the timetable, then ensuring all stakeholders adhered to it in order to meet the statutory deadlines. This included liaising with the auditors to ensure we achieved an unqualified opinion and published the Statement of Accounts before the deadline. I have advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and look ups and I currently use the SAP general ledger.

Initially I was employed as an Accounting Technician supporting budget setting and monitoring for local amenities such as parks and leisure centres.After attaining my Chartered Management Accountant qualification, I became the Education Accountant responsible for setting up the authority’s first local schools funding formula following adoption of unitary status and transfer of education responsibilities from Essex County Council.I then became the Social Care Accountant working closely with the Head of Service to monitor spending on residential and day care facilities which were under enormous pressure with ever increasing demands.
