Over 80% of the world’s CO2 emissions come from energy. To date, the focus has been overwhelmingly on decarbonizing the supply side (the sources of our energy). But as important as such interventions are, they represent only half the solution. Tackling energy demand (the way we use it) will account for 55% of energy decarbonization by 2050. Nevertheless, its transformative potential remains largely overlooked.At Schneider, we are uniquely positioned to support our customers on their journey to net zero. Working with around 50% of Fortune 500 companies, we have been able to identify a common theme. Leaders in sustainability are adopting an integrated approach Strategize: to understand where they are, where they want to be and how they can get there;Digitize: using connected products and software to get visibility of their energy and carbon data in real time; andDecarbonize: tackling both supply and demand through the three levers of ‘replace, reduce and electrify’.
